Opening Your Own Vet Practice

Monthly remote interactive workshops provide valuable support, information and practical tools for anyone looking to open their own practice.

OPENING YOUR OWN VETERINARY PRACTICE

This programme of two interactive workshops is ideal for anyone thinking about opening, or about to open their own practice.
It will help you focus your time, money and energy where they will make the most difference, and bring your plans successfully and profitably to life.

WHAT DOES THIS COURSE COVER?
This workshop has two separate parts, each delivered via Zoom approximately a week apart. You will need a device with good sound and a camera.

The first workshop is about clarification, both identifying and understanding your own priorities and then determining what demand there will be for your unique services. Topics covered will include:

  • Balancing ambition and reality across work, family and life commitments
  • Business plan – how to make one and why it matters
  • Who will your customers be, and where are they?
  • What is it about your mission, values and service that will compel clients to register with you ahead of your competitors?

Delegates then have homework to complete before the second workshop – researching their target catchment in order to determine:

  • Likely client numbers and demographics
  • Strengths and weaknesses of existing competitors
  • Physical and commercial barriers and opportunities
In the second workshop we explore the remaining three aspects of the Balanced Scorecard (customers having been a focus of the first session):

  • Team – how to recruit, develop and retain the right people
  • Operational effectiveness – practical and logistical considerations for structuring your new business and setting SMART targets
  • Finance – as a lag indicator, this is deliberately considered after all other factors, as getting them right will mean the key business numbers are right

Small group, maximum of 6 delegates – interactive style workshop.Course fee £330 + VAT.
