What is a focus group?

Focus groups are a great way to find out what clients and potential customers really think about you, your products and services or your competitors. They are structured, real-time conversations that get into the heads and hearts of real people, unlocking valuable insights into how they think and behave.

How does the process work?

After discussing your objectives in detail, we create a discussion guide covering all the topics you want to explore. Next we recruit a representative sample of your target audience (usually no more than eight people, to ensure that everyone’s voice can be heard during the focus group).

Respondents share and discuss their thoughts and experiences via a group Zoom session, guided by an experienced moderator following Market Research Society guidelines. Focus groups can be held in person, but we use Zoom predominantly because it offers a number of practical advantages:

Voices from around the country can be heard, with no travel expenses required
Focus groups can be recorded for future viewing
Research stimuli can be shared clearly on screen
Easy and convenient for participants to join

What do I get?

Following the 90-minute focus group, you’ll receive a recording of the session and a comprehensive report of findings and recommendations, with pertinent quotes and observations to help you make business decisions based on feedback not gut feel.

Onswitch manages the whole process – recruitment, participant management and communication, focus group facilitation over Zoom, reporting and recommendations. Your report will be with you within two weeks of the focus group.
